The Kerala Government Dental College Teachers' Union (KGDCTU) was established in 2013 with a primary objective of advocating for the rights and welfare of dental faculty members working in government dental colleges across Kerala. Since its inception, the union has played a pivotal role in strengthening the voice of dental educators, fostering professional development, and improving the quality of dental education in the state.

Why KGDCTU

The Dental and the larger medical community have historically shied away from union activities due to the traditionally regarded noble nature of their service and the unique working environment. The highly demanding and fiercely competitive ecosystem right from the campus days along with tremendous peer pressure often deprive many of us the necessary social space for developing camaraderie among ourselves. This prevailing atmosphere offer little scope for nurturing collectiveness and can lead to cracks in our cohesiveness when we try to organize ourselves as a union. Coupled with it is the fact that we being a scientific community often becomes apolitical on one side and can loose the touch of real politik on the other in our highly politicised surroundings.
